Fire Chief - The City of High Springs, Florida. Professional and administrative Fire Chief Position. Directs and manages all firefighting, fire prevention, and fire service activities of the City of High Springs. The Fire Chief is responsible, through study and consultation with City officials, for developing recommendations for the protection of life and property in the City. Administrative duties include planning, directing, and controlling departmental activities including recruitment of personnel, purchase of equipment, control of expenditures, preparation of budget estimates, and the assignment of personnel and equipment. The Fire Chief consults with the City Manager on problems of policy and planning but works independently in supervising technical operations. Required Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration, public administration, or a related field. Required Florida Certifications in the following fields: Firefighter, Paramedic, Driver/Operator, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Inspector I, and II and Fire Instructor I. Extensive progressive experience in fire administration, firefighting, and fire inspections to include three consecutive years of command officer in charge of a department, division or shift as a Lieutenant or higher Salary $85,000.00-$100,000.00 plus benefits.
