Service Worker- Right-of- Way and Cemetery Grounds Maintenance
Summary
The Service Worker maintains public access areas, easements, and transportation corridors to ensure they remain safe, clean, and compliant with local regulations. This role also includes responsibility for cemetery grounds upkeep, with a focus on respectful, careful mowing and trimming around gravesites, markers, and memorial structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Vegetation Control — Mow, trim, and clear brush along roadways, utility easements, sidewalks, and other right-of-way areas to maintain visibility and safe passage.
- Cemetery Grass Cutting — Perform regular mowing, edging, trimming, and debris removal in cemetery grounds, ensuring careful work around headstones, monuments, and burial plots.
- Equipment Operation — Safely operate mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, tractors, and other grounds-maintenance equipment.
- Debris Removal — Clear litter, fallen limbs, storm debris, and other obstructions from rights-of-way and cemetery grounds.
- Weed and Pest Control — Apply approved herbicides or assist in manual weed removal as directed.
- Site Inspection — Identify hazards such as overgrown vegetation, damaged signage, erosion, or unsafe conditions and report them promptly.
- Basic Repairs — Assist with minor maintenance of fences, signage, drainage areas, and grounds-maintenance equipment.
- Seasonal Tasks — Support tasks such as leaf removal, storm cleanup, and special cemetery preparations for holidays or memorial events.
- Safety Compliance — Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain awareness of surroundings, especially when working near traffic or sensitive cemetery areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, concrete/asphalt work, or general construction/maintenance is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to safely operate light equipment, tools, and work vehicles.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic knowledge of roadway and drainage maintenance practices is desirable.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe (e.g., within 6 months of hire).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $17.00 per hour

Additional Requirements
