The City of High Springs and Children’s Trust of Alachua County are proud to support Good News Arts Summer Art Camp.

Good News Arts’ Mission is to provide accessible and equitable arts engagement to the community of High Springs, Florida. Our exhibition space supports local, regional, and national artists in thoughtfully curated exhibitions as well as through Local Solo opportunities which serve High Springs locals specifically. Our arts education serves all ages and provides a wide array of creative learning at the lowest cost possible while also striving to provide all materials and reduce as many barriers to arts access as possible. Our programming is always free and open to the public.

The Good News Arts Summer Arts Camp will be our first year providing a six-week arts education camp to youth in grades K-12. This camp is supported by the Alachua Children’s Trust and as such all students who meet certain income requirements will be eligible to attend the camp completely free of charge. Students in all grade levels will learn various creatives arts practices from practicing, professional artists, and connect those arts skills to age-appropriate education and developmental goals. Students will also work with Lead Artists and Camp directors to organize, curate, and bring together an exhibit of student work at the end of the camp. The camp will meet weekdays from 9:30am to 3:30pm from June 28th through August 6th.

Camp Details:

Location: High Springs, Florida – The Old Schoolhouse, 23760 NW 187th Avenue, High Springs, FL 32643

Dates: Monday through Fridays, June 28th through August 6th

Times: 9:30am – 3:30pm (one hour drop off and pick up window each day)

Cost: The camp is completely free for youth who live in Alachua County and whose families meet one or more of the following scholarship requirements: family is at or below at or below 200% 2020 federal poverty threshold, Child with Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), Child from family receiving SNAP benefits. For youth whose families do not meet these requirements, the cost is $93 per week attending. Enrollment/Registration fees for all families is $5 (for each child)

Each week, youth can expect to focus on a specific artistic medium with a group of peers in their own age range. For this reason, we encourage youth to consider enrolling for the entire duration of the camp so they don’t miss out on any of the creative activities and learning they can be a part of! However, we know that schedules and other factors can prevent registering for all six weeks of the camp. Mostly we just want everyone to have a good time learning and engaging creatively!
