WHAT IS THE LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE (LDC)?

The Land Development Code (LDC) is the set of local regulations that guide how land is used and developed within the City. It translates the City’s Comprehensive Plan into specific, enforceable standards for development.

WHAT DOES THE LDC REGULATE?

  • Zoning districts and permitted land uses
  • Building setbacks, height, and lot size requirements
  • Parking and access standards
  • Landscaping and tree protection
  • Stormwater and environmental protections
  • Subdivision of land and infrastructure requirements
  • Design standards for new development and redevelopment

WHY IS THE LDC IMPORTANT?

The LDC shapes the community's character. It influences how neighborhoods look and feel, how businesses develop, how traffic flows, and how natural resources are protected.

  • Protects community character and quality of life
  • Supports responsible growth and economic vitality
  • Ensures fair and consistent development standards
  • Implements the vision of the Comprehensive Plan
  • Provides clarity and predictability for property owners and developers
  • In short, it affects what gets built, where it goes, and how it looks.

WHY IS THE LDC BEING RE-WRITTEN?

Communities evolve over time. Re-writing the Land Development Code helps ensure that regulations reflect current community priorities, protect local character, and address future growth responsibly.

YOUR INPUT MATTERS

Early public input will shape stakeholder discussions before the formal LDC rewrite begins.
