This morning, we began our damage assessment and documentation efforts following Hurricane Helene. There are still several more areas of the city that we need to see.

These shots highlight the extent of damage throughout High Springs. Several trees and wires are down. Numerous roads are impassable.

As a result of the damage, all garbage and recycling collection is suspended for the rest of the week. Normal collection schedules will resume on Monday. Alachua County's Rural Waste Collection Center will be open on Saturday, September 28th, to dispose of garbage or recycling if you were missed this week.

Full restoration of power in High Springs may take several days. Please be prepared, and seek lodging with friends of family members who do have power, if possible.

Utility companies and their mutual aid partners are conducting their own damage assessments and focusing on the hardest-hit areas first. We ask for patience and understanding while line crews work to restore power.
