TROPICAL STORM DEBBY UPDATE # 3 | 8/3/24 5:30PM

As of the 5 PM advisory, PTC #4 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Debby. Debby is expected to make landfall late Monday morning in the Big Bend area, west of Perry.

The biggest concern for High Springs remains heavy rain. The ground is already well saturated, heightening the chances for flooding, especially in low-lying areas or areas with poor drainage. Strong, gusty winds are also possible, especially on Monday, increasing the chances of power outages.

Sandbag operations will resume tomorrow from 8 AM to 2 PM, or until bags run out, at Memorial Park, 17380 NW US HWY 441. Please remember that this is a self-serve operation. Bring your shovel. LIMIT 10 BAGS PER VEHICLE. Please be considerate of your neighbors and only take what you need.

COLUMBIA COUNTY RESIDENTS: Sandbags will be available at Fort White Community School tomorrow from 7 AM to 5 PM. Follow Columbia County Emergency Management for more information.

GILCHRIST COUNTY RESIDENTS: Sandbags are available in Trenton at Southeast Park. Follow Gilchrist County Emergency Management for more information.

Please complete preparations around your home by tomorrow afternoon. Have flashlights ready and ensure your mobile devices are fully charged in the event of a prolonged power outage.
