A HURRICANE WATCH is now in effect for Alachua County. A Hurricane Watch means Hurricane conditions are possible somewhere in the warned area within the next 48 hours.
Here are the FIVE big things YOU need to know this morning:
1.) Weather conditions will begin to deteriorate on Tuesday afternoon or evening.
2.) Complete your disaster preparedness by tomorrow morning. Prepare your property, by cleaning up low-hanging limbs, clearing drainage areas if applicable, securing outdoor furniture, etc.
3.) Sign up for emergency notifications from High Springs at HSALERTS.com AND from Alachua County at ALERTALACHUA.com or by texting ALACHUA to 888-777.
4.) Shifts in the storm track and severity of local impacts are subject to change. Continue to monitor future forecasts from official sources, such as hurricanes.gov and weather.gov/jax.
5.) Information on possible closures, sandbag operations, etc. are forthcoming later today.
