Release Number: 2023-004
Incident Number: CR 23000721
Incident Date: November 11, 2023
Incident Time: N/A
Incident Location: 18300 NW 234th St- High Springs, FL
On the listed date and time, the High Springs Police Department responded to the
address as mentioned above - the victim, a seventeen-year-old minor, reported that
her roommate, JOSHUA TERRELL (a twenty-eight YOA male subject), had made
written threats towards her and the victim’s sister. These threats were inclusive of a
diary with detailed plans on how to carry out these acts of murder.
Upon further review, it was discovered that the minor had engaged in sexual contact
with TERRELL and had resided with TERRELL for a month. Prior to the alleged
offense, the victim's father traveled to High Springs and dropped his daughter off at
the offender's residence but thought that TERRELL was younger based on false
information given to him by his daughter. (Florida law states that minors who are
16 or 17 years old can consent to sexual activity with someone no more than 23
years old.)
JOSHUA TERRELL, of High Springs, was placed under arrest and booked into the
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office - Department of the Jail on the charges of:
• Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor
• Written Threats to Kill or Injure
This investigation is ongoing; HSPD is seeking other witnesses and victims.
TERRELL has pending sex-related charges in Lake County, Florida.
Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact HSPD Detective Tracy Taylor at ttaylor [at] highsprings.gov (ttaylor[at]highsprings[dot]gov) or (352) 955-1818.
